Effective Eyebrow Tattoo Removal Cream without TCA Chemical Peel, Dermabrasion or Excision, is possible.

Although laser tattoo removal, using Intense Pulsed Light Lasers (IPL), provides one of the best solutions to getting rid of unwanted pigments and inks embedded deep in the skin, there is a cheap tattoo removal cream that’s a viable alternative. Here’s the information you need to make a decision on whether to try a tattoo removal cream or undergo a laser procedure. Before deciding you should know what the main tattoo removal clinic procedures involve, what do-it-yourself tattoo removal products are all about and why tattoo removal creams like Wrecking Balm don’t work. But first:

  • DO NOT use topical tattoo removal cream or gel preparations on permanent eyeliner, lip liner or tattooed eyebrows.
  • DO NOT use abrasive tools, sanders, home dermabrasion, salabraison or do-it-yourself trichloroacetic acid chemical peeling formulation anywhere on your face.
  • DO NOT use Wrecking Balm tattoo removal cream on your permanent makeup tattoos, on your eyes, lips, or sensitive areas.
  • Do Not use Rejuvi cream on permanent eyeliner or lip liner. It’s safe for eyebrow tattoo removal.

Unlike topical formulas that claim to fade tattoos, professionally administered Rejuvi tattoo removal cream is specifically designed to eliminate unwanted ink and micropigmentation deposits in the dermis.

What makes Rejuvi the best tattoo removal cream?

Let’s take an in-depth look at what tattoos and permanent makeup eyebrow pigments are all about in order to discover how to rid the body of their unwanted presence.

Professionally applied tattoo inks, as well as permanent cosmetic tattooing pigments, have been injected into the second layer of skin, usually midway into the dermis (not the epidermis or surface layer of skin), and are therefore permanent. These pigments, buried deep in the skin, are dormant (“inert”) and completely insoluble, meaning that solvents, cleaners, exfoliating chemicals, detergents and emulsifiers, not only will not reach the pigments if applied superficially, but even if they did come into contact with the pigment, would not be able to break them down or remove them. Why? Because micropigmentation, and other tattoo pigments, are usually derivates from non-organic metal oxides: carbon, chromium, titanium and iron oxides. They are non-water soluble, non-organic, and therefore organic water-based elimination systems, or even the body’s own detoxification process, will not eliminate them unless the pigment particles are broken into minute forms (such as what lasers do) to allow them to be flushed slowly from the body, or unless a similar chemically-based solution is injected into the dermis, mixed with the pigments and extracted.

How do the ingredients in Rejuvi tattoo removal cream eliminate the pigments?

The ingredients in Rejuuvi are: magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, calcium oxide, triethanolamine and deionized water, which means it’s mostly comprised of alkaline metal oxides and transition metal oxides (transition elements and oxygen which act as transporters or conductors) and are similar in composition and of the same dimensional structure as tattoo pigment particles. Rejuvi cream, when injected into the skin, using the same tattoo machine or micropigmentation device as the one employed to create the original tattoo, delivers metal oxides in a suspended formulation to the pigmented area. The formulation attracts the unwanted pigment, but since it’s not compatible with the body, is rejected and forced out. From the moment the formula is introduced, until it’s rejected by the body, it blends with the tattoo ink or permanent makeup pigments. The technician who performs this procedure, will therefore apply pads to soak up the cream as it is repelled by the body, absorbing the rejected formula which now contains particles of the old oxide pigments. During the procedure, the technician (using the tattoo machine) will insert the cream following the original tattoo design, while the body continuously pushes it back out, forcing the oxides to the surface, and being wiped away with the pads until the entire tattoo is eliminated. Then the skin will form a scab and heal.

Does it work for all tattoo colors?

Yes. Rejuvi tattoo removal cream doesn’t differentiate between colors. It can eliminate all metal oxides that comprise the base of tattooing pigments. Unlike laser removal, where certain colors are extremely difficult to eliminate and may require special types of equipment not just standard IPL.

Does the Rejuvi cream extraction system leave scars?

If the procedure is expertly done by an experienced professional technician (a certified micropigmentation expert) there is very little risk of scarring or even hyperpigmentation. The area will repair itself in a similar way as the original tattoo healed, with a crust forming and then falling off. It’s extremely important to follow the tattoo removal aftercare instruction very carefully to ensure the best results.

Is more than one tattoo removal treatment required to eliminate all trace of pigmentation?

Usually one treatment is enough, especially in the case of eyebrow tattoo removal, because a two or three square inch area may be treated in one sitting.

Body tattoos may require several visits if they are large, complex or detailed designs.

Are the results immediate?

If you have not undergone laser treatments, or attempted removal in other ways, the effects should be noticeable immediately. The area will be red and sore immediately following the procedure, then it will form a scab. If you keep the area totally dry (this is very, very important), it will take about 2 weeks for the crusty scabs to fall away on their own. You will notice that the area may be a darker color for several weeks. It can take up to four months for the brownish-red undertones, where the scabs had been, to return to your natural skin color, but most patients are very pleased with the results after a few weeks caring for the region with special soothing and healing formulations that Rejuvi makes, such as the soothing creams that aid in the gradual healing process and keep the skin smooth and soft.

The Rejuvi Removal Procedure

The Rejuvi tattoo removal cream is not a home removal treatment system. Only a skilled micropigmentation technician, certified permanent makeup aesthetician, or skilled tattoo artists (experienced in “tattoo-over” procedures) will be able to offer this service and provide effective results. Before starting, the technician should examine the tattoo carefully to evaluate possible complications and to make note of any irregularities that may affect the removal process. For the removal of eyebrow tattoos, the specialist will decide what areas of the tattoo need to be removed. It’s not always essential to eliminate the entire eyebrow, just the areas that require correction.

A topical anesthetic will be applied, the same as when the tattoo when was created, so that the procedure can be as comfortable and painless as possible. The tattoo machine needle (triple needles that are round are the best for eyebrow areas) will be dipped in the Rejuvi cream and the skin will be broken so as to insert the formula. Needles should not penetrate beyond the depth of where a normal micropigmentation procedure would go. The removal cream will remain there for only a minute or two after which cotton pads will placed over the are to absorb the pigment that is released. It may be essentially to go over the area several times (usually no more than three times for eyebrows, but up to eight times for body tattoos), dipping the needle, inserting the cream, waiting a minute or two, absorbing the pigment that is pushed out, doing so until no color is visible on the cotton pads (it may look somewhat greenish in color). The final step is to wipe the area clean and apply a layer of cream.

The entire removal procedure should take about half an hour, unless the area is very large or the original design very intricate, in which case the process may take up to an hour and a half. Seldom will eyebrow tattoo removal sessions require more than that.

Tattoo Removal Aftercare

The area may be bandaged, but it’s primarily used for ensuring that the area will never get wet. It is of vital importance that the region be kept dry, especially during the first 3 days, the time usually required for scabs to form. It’s recommended that if the area were to accidentally come in contact with water or humidity, such as while bathing or showering, a cotton swab should be used to gently absorb any moisture. In some cases, a dilute solution of hydrogen peroxide (no more than 2% – 3%) can be applied very carefully so as not to disturb the scab formations. After the crusts have naturally fallen off, then a daily application of Rejuvi soothing cream can be used to aid healing.

Never, never scratch the scabs or remove the crusts. They must fall off on their own. Rubbing and scratching may lead to infection, complications and scars. Don’t touch those brows! Don’t let the crusts get soft or soggy. Don’t swim or take long hot baths or anything that involves steam or moisture. To deal with itchiness, lightly tap the area, or if it’s really bad, try using an over the counter anti-itch preparation to obtain relief.

It takes about two weeks to a month for the scabs to come off, when dealing with the removal of permanent makeup pigments, and longer for body tattoos. However, the entire healing process for an eyebrow area can take several months (the average is about two – three months) because the region will appear reddish and may even appear to be raised, as it were a scar. These are usually temporary effects so long as the technician who performed the procedure did not exceed the necessary depth of penetration, which a qualified professional will have avoided. Therefore, scars are rare and healing simply takes time. The skin will go back to it’s normal state faster if the Rejuvi “h” Super
Soothing Cream is used regularly.

If, during any time throughout the healing process, you think the area may be infected, consult your technician and/or physician. The area may need to be disinfected and an oral antibiotic may be prescribed. In less serious cases, it’s possible to disinfect with a dilute hydrogen peroxide solution (around 2% in enough) or use a topical antibiotic liniment.

Success Rates

The success rate of removing all traces of cosmetic micropigmentation is very high, even when dealing with old tattoo, and even more successful with newer ones. Permanent makeup removal, for eyebrows, is seldom followed by complications. However, body tattoos, some which may have been implanted originally very deep into the dermis, may form some scarring in about 8% of cases studied.

It’s very important to state that good results are only achieved if the tattoo in question has not been previously altered by lasers. Should you have previously trued laser or IPL removal without success, and now wish to try the Rejuvi system, it’s important to discuss with your micropigmentation professional because each case will be different, in some cases requiring slower multiple sessions, but with an increased risk of scarring.

In the case of correcting an eyebrow tattoo, how soon can the area be re-tattooed after a removal process with Rejuvi?

Many eyebrow situations involve a corrective process, whereby sections of a brow may be eliminated so that a new tattoo can be applied correctly. The exact time between the removal and micropigmentation re-application must be decided on a case by case basis by a professional who will access how well the region has healed. On average, it will require at least a period of two months between procedures.

Rejuvi Tattoo Removal Clinic

IF you’re wondering where you can have this procedure done, it’s difficult to find a Rejuvi specialist tattoo removal clinic in the US, although there are plenty in the UK and Australia. Nevertheless, it’s not essential to go to a tattoo removal clinic for the procedure to be done professionally because qualified micropigmentation experts and technicians, who specialize in permanent make up offer the service. It requires no special equipment aside from the tattoo machine, the correct needles and the Rejuvi cream solution.

Tattoo Removal Prices

It’s affordable to get this kind of treatment although it will depend on the tattoo size and detail. However, eyebrow tattoo removal is not as complicated as eliminating larger body tattoos. Here is a rough idea of what you can expect to pay.

The initial consultation will probably be complimentary (although it’s not unheard-of to charge $25 – $50) and that’s when your brows will be examined to determine how much work is required in your particular case. Some micropigmentation specialists refund the consultation fee if you’re not a good candidate, but if you do proceed, the next step is a preliminary test (a patch test) that’ll be conducted to see if you have adverse reactions. That can cost between $50 – $100. It’s usually non-refundable and can take up to a month for the results to be known. If all goes well, the procedure can then be scheduled. Treatments vary from $100 – $300 per session. The good news is that eyebrows usually require only one treatment.

TCA Peel

One method of removing tattoos is getting a TCA peel – TCA standing for trichloroacetic acid (also known as organic acetic acid or ethanoic acid found in vinegar) used for wart removal and sometimes in cosmetic facial chemical peel formulations. Trichloroacetic acid should not be confused with the glycolic acid peel procedures that are formulated with hydroxyacetic acid, commonly known as AHA (a derivative of sugar) that’s widely used in moisturizers and skin exfoliating products.

A TCA chemical peel to remove unwanted pigment or ink from the skin is exactly what it sounds like – using an acid to chemically burn and peel away the layers of skin. There have been some studies that indicate that TCA tattoo removal is in fact effective, with higher than 90% success rates on body tattoos.

How does a TCA peel work? What are the risks? Is it recommended for eyebrows?

First, the risks are similar to other methods – it’s possible to be left with scar tissue and still not have eliminated the tattoo. As with most treatments, it’s contraindicated for diabetics or those with medical conditions that may impede the healing process. It should not be used if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s important not to allow sun exposure on the treated areas – so no tanning unless the region is well protected.

It may be used for body tattoos, but should never be used near the eyes (like to remove eyeliner) or the sensitive lip area. The manufacturer’s of TCA home application kits do not recommend it being used anywhere on the face, which means that if you’re wanting to remove tattooed eyebrows, it’s better to use Rejuvi cream or go for laser treatments.

Who can TCA help and why?

It can help people with body tattoos, either to begin the elimination process prior to laser treatments, or to attack specific pigment colors that lasers have trouble removing, including greens, blues, yellows and pinks. TCA works to remove the top layer of skin, called the epidermis, and while tattoo pigment rests in the lower layer (the dermis), the removal of the upper layers can cause the tattoo to become nearer the surface, and therefore through a series of several treatments over a period of time, the pigments that are nearer the surface may begin to fade. As more layers are sloughed off, using a TCA peel at intervals of around a around a month and a half, it’s possible to see results over the course of many months. Some people claim it’s beneficial to fade a tattoo with TCA before going for laser treatments, to minimize the number of sessions required, but we suggest discussing this option with the specialists at a laser treatment clinic before mixing treatments. Have a specialist analyze your tattoo pigments. An initial consultation, even if there’s a fee, will be worth the information pertaining to YOUR specific tattoo.

Note: Most medical professionals do not recommend using home TCA treatments like the ones sold through Inkbusters and Nuviderm.

TCA Peel Cost

While using the TCA peel method is a slow process, the benefit is that it’s cheaper than IPL laser treatments, and perhaps more affordable than going for professional Rejuvi procedures.

There are several at home TCA tattoo removal products. One is called Nuviderm, and is sold in 1 or 2 ounce bottles, or kits that include a glass mixing bowl, a measuring utensil, cotton pads and extras like sun block. The basic formula alone costs about $40 for an ounce, $60 for 2 ounces, and just under $70 for a deluxe kit.

No matter where you buy TCA, the average price is about $40 per ounce, so it’s better to buy through a tattoo removal specialist company like Nuviderm because they offer detailed instructions that are otherwise difficult to find.

Laser Treatments

IPL (Intense Pulsating Light) treatments used in Q-switching is about photons released in fraction second pulses (nanoseconds), heating tissue to around 300 degrees, then stopping and pulsing, over and over, causing thermal expansion in the pigmentation, shattering it into minute particles that can be eliminated through the tissue and flushed out of the body. However, not all inks and pigments respond to IPL heat generating light pulses therefore it’s essential to blend light and sound (radio frequencies) to create a photo-acoustic means of breaking-up the pigment particles more effectively. Due to chromophores, certain laser wavelengths will be absorbed by pigments, leaving other tissue unharmed. The best machines for doing this are the ND YAG laser systems which are highly effective at removing red, blue and black pigments, especially on dark skin. Yellow is one of the more difficult colors to remove.

If all this sounds overly technical, well…it is. We mention it briefly because it’s important for patients to understand that laser tattoo removal is tricky, and they must have realistic expectations of what will be achieved during treatments. To get the right wavelength and pulses, which will work for a variety of inks or pigment colors, on specific skin types, is a very personal process that will depend on each tattoo and each client’s unique skin tone. That’s why prospective patients can’t get specific information on whether their tattoo will be removed or nor by searching online. A consultation with a specialist at a laser tattoo removal clinic is essential.

Why do we bring up ND YAG laser devices while exploring tattoo removal cream treatments? Because laser tattoo removal is the most effective procedure, and other choices, such as using Rejuvi tattoo removal cream, will likely be made by patient looking for cheaper solutions. It’s important that prospective patients understand all the available options, risks and benefits.

Laser Tattoo Removal Cost Versus Rejuvi

  1. It’s feasible to pay only a couple hundred dollars to have a micropigmentation expert treat an eyebrow tattoo with Rejuvi cream It’s usually a single procedure.
  2. Cheap TCA treatments cannot be used for permanent makeup removal therefore the cost is immaterial. Removal creams like Wrecking Balm should not be used on the face, so the product’s low cost is irrelevant when comparing “real” treatment prices.
  3. The cost of laser tattoo removal for eyebrows is between $200 and $500 per session (the average for brows is $400 per treatment). It can take 4 to 8 (on average) laser sessions to fade or eliminate eyebrow tattoo pigment. It’s estimated that laser removals end up costing between $1,600 and $2,500 (for permanent makeup) and much more for body tattoos containing a variety of ink colors.

Home Tattoo Removal Creams

The main lotions, potions and creams are:

  1. Nuviderm (which is not actually a cream but liquid TCA)
  2. InkBusters (also a liquid TCA formula)
  3. Wrecking Balm (a cream and abrasive system not to be used on the face)
  4. Tat B Gone ( an epidermal bleaching cream, purportedly containing hydroquinone)
  5. Tattoo-OFF (almost identical to Tat B Gone, a skin bleaching formula containing hydroquinone).

The above home tattoo removal cream formulations cannot be used for eyebrow tattoo removal or for use on areas of the body that are sensitive.

Please be aware that TCA is a chemical peel solution and will burn away the top layers of the skin. There are no guarantees it will fade or eliminate a tattoo. InkBusters is also a TCA solution that can leave scars. Medical professionals do not recommend these home treatments.

For more detailed information on Wrecking Balm, please read the related post.

Tat B Gone and Tattoo-OFF are both tattoo removal creams that have not been clinically proven to effectively remove pigment from the dermis. Considering their ingredients, it’s quite unlikely that using these preparations will have any long-term affect on ink or pigment break-down. While it’s possible to notice a lightening or fading during the process, these effects may be temporary. Why? Because ink and pigments are located in the lower or mid dermis and the active ingredients in these products only have the ability to lighten or bleach the epidermis. Therefore, it may seem as if the tattoo is fading, but the pigment is still in the lower dermal regions and will likely re-appear after a few months.

After careful research into all the creams and potions on the market, it seems quite clear that medical professionals, dermatologists, micropigmentation experts and tattoo removal specialists do not recommend the use of these self-administered tattoo removal formulas.

Salabraison, Dermabrasion and Excision

  1. Salabraison is one of the most primitive means of attempting to remove unwanted tattoo art from the skin. It consists of rubbing wet salt into the tattooed area until the flesh becomes raw. This self-mutilation process must be repeated over and over again. Needless to say, salabraison is not recommended, is highly likely to leave scars and probably will have no effect on tattoos done with professional tattooing equipment.
  2. Dermabrasion is the controlled cosmetic surgical procedure involving scraping or sanding the skin. It’s designed to smooth the surface, the epidermis, and is sometimes performed in conjunction with a chemical peel. It is abrasive, causes crusting and scabbing while a new layer of skin is formed below. It’s not an effective means to remove a tattoo. As a facial rejuvenator, when done in a clinic under the controlled care of a professional dermatologist or plastic surgeon, it can aid in resurfacing the skin and leave a smoother top layer, however as a tattoo removal process it’s ineffective because the dermal layers where pigments are trapped are largely unaffected. It’s important to note that some tattoo removal cream formulas, like Wrecking Balm, use the concept behind dermabrasion to promote their product, offering kits with cream skin lighteners and a sanding tool. However, whether you pay an expert hundreds of dollars to slough off the top layers of skin over a tattoo or you do it yourself at home, it will have very little effect on pigments in the dermis.
  3. Excision tattoo removal is about surgically cutting away the tattoo. This is a drastic, expensive and highly risky means of removal, and it’s seldom done now that lasers work so well. The operation literally involves removing the skin, and if it’s a small enough area, finishing with sutures, but if the tattoo is large, it may require skin grafts. Needless to say, this procedure is not for patients with permanent makeup problems.

Tattoo Cover Up Makeup

While you’re trying to decide which removal process is best in your particular case, why not try some tattoo cover up makeup. There are several brands to try. Here are just a few suggestions:

  1. Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer is one product that’s waterproof and highly pigmented to cover up a tattoo temporarily. It requires three simple steps to hide an eyebrow tattoo, for example. First, you should use the tip of the concealer tube (or a pencil called the tattoo eraser) to outline the area that has the most pigment or ink. Then fill in the area and use the brush, after which it should be left to dry. Add a second layer if required. Let dry between coats. Use a sponge to add powder and then set it with a light spray. The concealer comes in eight different colors to match you natural skin tone and costs about $25. Extra items, like the pencil that’s called a tattoo eraser costs $14, the brush costs $17, and you get the special powder foundation by Kat Von as well as the setting spray. It’s sold through companies like Sephora.

Does this tattoo cover up work? Many rave reviews say it does, and not just for tattoos but for scars and dark spots and blemishes. Why is it so effective? Partly because it was created by a tattoo artist – Kat herself, the owner of High Voltage Tattoo on La Brea Avenue in West Hollywood, where you need to book light-years in advance to get an appointment.

  2. Tattoo Camo is another tattoo cover up products that’s highly concentrated and comes in several colors. Designed to completely camouflage pigments and inks that can last all day. Tattoo Camo offers kits with eth special paste and a setting powder for $29.95, or $39.95 with concealer, setting powder and removal tonic. Tattoo Camo also sell a spray that sets the foundation so as not to rub off on clothes, and helps the camouflage last longer, and a bottle costs just $21.95.
  3. Dermablend by Vichy offers a series of tattoo cover up ideas that many ladies have found to work, especially to cover a tattoo for a wedding or special occasion. The Dermablend Cover Cream lasts 16 hours, and the setting powder will hold it in place and give it a matte finish that resists perspiration. It comes in 13 colors that can be blended to get your exact skin tone. The cover cream costs around $30 and is available through shops and drugstores that carry Vichy products.
